The Biggest Celebrities Who Play Bingo

It feels safe to say that if you live in the UK, or nearby, there isn’t a chance that you haven’t played at least one bingo game in your life. And don’t try fib now, we know it’s impossible. The same goes for UK celebs, who haven’t seemed to be able to avoid the craze either! If anything, they’ve taken it to new levels, and have likely influenced the popularity of the game more than they ever could have imagined.

There are many celebrities who’ve helped to make bingo a pretty much certified national game, but we’ve narrowed it down to 8, garden gate:

1. Prince William

The Duke of Cambridge is certainly the poster child for a lifetime love of bingo. Over the course of his royal bingo career, he has put a dab pen to number sheets with the likes of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip at Balmoral Castle. Prince William loves the game so much he even took time off from his military station in Sandhurst to get his bingo fix.

What’s more, he brings a heartwarming charm to the game with his charitable efforts. Thanks to a hand-cranked ball spinner and the added wiles of the lovely Duchess, they stole hearts across the nation when they recently played some rounds with the residents of the Shire Hall Care Home in Cardiff via video call.

2. Mick Jagger

From fresh-faced royalty to wide-mouthed rock and roll, Mick Jagger definitely throws a sexy spanner in the bingo works with his hard partying ways. No stranger to the stage, “Brenda”, as he’s referred to by bandmate Keith Richards, is known for throwing wild bingo parties at his home in Richmond, England. We can only imagine just how wild.

With the many A-list celebs who’ve attended these parties, it’s no surprise that many people associate his love of the game with the rise of both traditional and online bingo. We don’t know about you, but we’re sure that hearing him shout “Bingo!”, either online or offline, would be one for the books.

3. Catherine Zeta—Jones

It might be a far cry from chasing Antonio Banderas around with a sword in his Zorro suit, but the famous Welsh beauty also apparently loves to get her hands on some bingo balls. Growing up playing the game with her family in Swansea, word has it that a lucky bingo win gave her the chance to strut her stuff in some dancing lessons, which led to a career on the stage. So it seems we have bingo to thank for gifting us with this lovely lass on screen!

Years later, after switching her sword for a dabber, and no doubt resting her back after sexily dodging lasers in Entrapment, Zeta-Jones is still a fan of the game. So much so that she’s even adopted the US version of bingo, so that she can play alongside hubby Michael Douglas (who also knows a thing or two about basic instincts and risky attractions).

4. Kate Moss

Years after being notoriously caught for indulging in some naughty nighttime escapades, Kate Moss has apparently traded in her wild ways for a bit of good, clean bingo fun. Maybe it’s to do with her personal evolution from dating wild rock stars to now consorting with European nobility, but either way, we appreciate her enthusiasm for the game!

Who knows, maybe her love of bingo, and her global status as a British fashion icon have helped propel the game to new heights. Actually, just knowing that she’s played a family game with other British celebs like Sadie Frost and their families at some stage is enough for us to believe it.

5. Russell Crowe

Famous for his ability to get his head around incredibly complex mathematics in films like A Beautiful Mind, we’re not surprised that Russell Crowe has a knack for numbers. And as his Gladiator prowess would suggest, he’s not one to follow the rules, and apparently got sacked for getting a bit cheeky with the bingo calls while working on an island off his native New Zealand.

While he might have gone onto darker, grimier gangster roles, Crowe still maintains his love for the game, regularly sharing his passion for it in interviews. We’d like to think his ballsy attitude began on the bingo stage on that island, and set him on track for making waves in Hollywood.

6. Cristiano Ronaldo

One of the most famous football players in the world (he’s even had a statue made in his likeness — now that’s FAMOUS famous), we’re proud to call Cristiano Ronaldo a bingo aficionado. While he originally learnt the game as a way to improve his English, he apparently became hooked.

As a man with such supreme ball skills, we’re not surprised!

7. Robbie Williams

From Take That to the UK Music Hall of Fame, Robbie Williams has done a lot to bring bingo into the mainstream, when he wasn’t busy loving angels of course. If chasing Darryl Hannah around the streets after bingo night in “Feel” wasn’t enough either, he’s also made a name for himself hosting charity events and raising money while promoting the game. Bless!

8. Bono

Although he might have struggled to keep an eye on the numbers while continuously wearing sunglasses, Bono is another big name in the bingo scene, despite the fact that he hails from the other side of the channel.

Like so many other celebs on this list, Bono has done wonders for sharing the love of the game. Most famously, he brought two of his best supermodel friends, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell, to play at a cafe he was partly invested in called Mr Pussey’s. Not much more we can add to that!
